Does Marriage Hinder Seeking Islamic Knowledge? A Wise Answer from Shaykh Al-Uthaymeen

Question to Shaykh Saleh Al-Uthaymeen (رحمه الله):
Does marriage become an obstacle in the path of seeking Islamic knowledge (ilm)?

Summary of his answer:
Marriage does not obstruct the pursuit of knowledge; rather, it can assist in it. Through marriage, a man may gain a wife who supports him in seeking knowledge — helping him in reading, writing, or at the very least relieving him of the mental stress of remaining unmarried. A student of knowledge often has responsibilities at home; the wife may take care of those, saving the husband valuable time. In this way, a wife can help create a peaceful and suitable environment that is essential for acquiring knowledge.

Therefore, my advice to the youth is: Get married!
In it lies numerous benefits, it is an act encouraged by the Prophet ﷺ, and it reflects the practice of the Sahabah (Companions).
