Sahih Hadith on Fidyah for Non-Fasting and the Reward of Umrah in Ramadan Equivalent to Hajj
Narrated from Salmah ibn al-Akwa‘ (RA):
He said, “Those who were able to fast (but did not wish to fast) would give food to a poor person as fidya.” When this verse was revealed, if anyone did not want to fast in Ramadan, he would break the fast and instead pay fidya. Then the subsequent verse was revealed, and it abrogated (cancelled) the ruling of the previous verse.” (E.Fa. 2552, E.Se. 2551)
